What is a Volunteer Centre?

Over 200 volunteer centres (or bureaux) in Canada are dedicated to supporting volunteers and the organizations that require volunteer help.

Each volunteer centre has a unique mix of programs and services including:

Promoting Volunteerism

  • National Volunteer week
  • Global Youth Service Day
  • Media and community events

Building Capacity for Effective local volunteering

  • Training programs
  • One-to-one consultations
  • Publications, resources and information

Providing Leadership on Issues Relating to Volunteerism

  • Speaking on behalf of volunteers
  • Convening and participating on community round-tables and committees
  • Monitoring community needs

Connecting People with Opportunities to Serve

  • Recruitment and referral services
  • Managing direct services involving volunteers (some centres)
